Otterbox

Otterbox is a private company which produces electronics’ accessories. It is based in Fort Collins, Colorado. Otterbox manufactures drop-proof, shock-proof and water-proof covers for mobile devices like iPhone, Samsung, Google and iPad.. These cases comprise of synthetic rubber and plastic.

Founder:

The founder of the company is Curtis Richardson.  It took him ten years to bring his idea of producing protective phone cases into practice. The company came into being in 1998.

Otterbox Series’ Characteristics, Benefits And Drawbacks

Otterbox has produced four different series of cases. They are:

  • Otterbox Commuter
  • Otterbox Symmetry
  • Otterbox Pursuit
  • Otterbox Defender

A. Otterbox Commuter:

Commuter cases consist of 2 protection layers and have better grip at the side of the case. It also has a port cover on the lightning port which provides better protection than Otterbox Symmetry.
  1. Advantages:Protection for the lightning port.
  • Not very thick.
  • Good protection from falls and drops.
  1. Disadvantages:
  • No screen protector.
  • Looks dirty because of dirt and dust between the phone and the case after some time.
  • It’s a bit hard to remove the case.

B. Otterbox Symmetry

It is an acceptable and reasonable case with a simple and single layer of protection. Compared to the Otterbox commuter, it has a very smooth back and also very smooth edges because of that it has a high risk of slipping from the hands,
  1. Advantages:
  • Buyers can choose between the colors and prints because of the availability of the vast variety.
  • Symmetry case provides protection from drops and falls with slim and stylish design.
  1. Disadvantages:
  • The buyers need to buy the screen protectors separately.
  • It is hard to operate the volume and power buttons because of the rigid body of the case.
  • User has to apply more pressure to use the buttons.

C. Otterbox Pursuit:

Pursuit’s slim design makes it more stylish than the other series of cases. Otterbox has impressively made sure that the dust and dirt do not touch your phone while using this series of the otterbox cases. The dual layer protection makes Pursuit better than the Commuter and Symmetry series.
  1. Advantages:
  • It protects the camera lens with the seal present at the edges of the lens.
  • The swivel hook attachments or lanyard attachments are also available.
  • It has a modern and thin design.
2.Disadvantages:
  • No screen protector is provided with the case.
  • It is semi water-proof.

D. Otterbox Defender:

This series is the best of all as it is the toughest of all four. Defender fully secures your phone by creating a seal on all the sides of the phone and makes your phone water-proof, dirt-proof and drop-proof. The case provides good protection against a 40 feet drop which means it provides an ultimate drop protection. It is available with a 2/3 years warranty.
  1. Advantages:
  • Provides ultimate drop protection.
  • Heavy Duty Side-Wall
  • Charge Port Dust Protection
  1. Disadvantages:
  • It is quite big in size.
  • Not Simple to slide phone in and out of case

Where Can You Buy Otterbox Cases Australia?

At first there wasn’t a physical retail store of the Otterbox cases and customers were buying the cases online only. But in 2017, Otterbox announced its first stores opening in a company press release, after 19 years of selling the cases online. Otterbox does not have retail stores in Australia however we’re pleased to announce Case Shop Australia sells Official Otterbox cases in-store in Brisbane and Sydney.
